The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has awarded the Encomienda de Número de la Orden de Mérito Civil to the notary public of Madrid and editorial advisor of 'elEconomista.es'.
During the presentation ceremony, Minister Grande-Marlaska highlighted Ana Fernández Tresguerres' impeccable career in public service, especially in relation to the consultancy services she has provided to the foreign service for more than 20 years, in notarial matters.
Grande-Marlaska also highlighted her status as a national expert in international private law before the institutions of the European Union. As an international expert, she has worked on all the cases that make up European civil justice.
At the international level, she has been a delegate to the EU Committee on Civil Law since its foundation in 2000. She has been involved in all the legal instruments of civil justice. She has particular expertise in European contract and company law. She is an expert in the Standing Committee General Questions.
The General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union has recognised her work, inviting her to comment on several European Regulations in the e-Book editions, written by the experts who have contributed most to the creation of the European area. As a delegate of the Ministry of Justice since 2000, she has driven and achieved a large part of the digital transformation of the Ministry of Justice.
Ana Fernández-Tresguerres is a Full Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain (RAJYLE) and chairs the Sixth Section of the Corporation, dedicated to Private International Law. Her acceptance speech was on European Private Law in the Digital Transformation and was answered on behalf of the Corporation by Full Member Antonio Fernández de Buján y Fernández.
She is also an editorial advisor to elEconomista.es Since the foundation of this newspaper and collaborator of this publication, she is recognised as one of the most prestigious Spanish jurists, with a specialisation in international private law.
Advisor to various legal journals, she is the author of an extensive bibliography in all areas of private law. Several editions of the Basic Notarial Legislation and the Notarial Code (Thomson-Reuters) can be cited. Her monograph Inheritance mortis causa in Europe was awarded the García de Enterría European Legal Studies Prize.
Fernández-Tresguerres is also a property and commercial registrar on leave of absence. She was also a Spanish expert in the negotiation of the European instrument on wills. She holds a degree in National Defence Studies (Ceseden).
She is also a trustee of the Fundación Matritense del Notariado and Academic Advisor of the Fundación para la investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa (Fide). Fide is a meeting place for economists and jurists from all branches of law.
She is decorated with the Cross of Honour of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort and the Encomienda de la Orden de Isabel La Católica.
