EU action: green pact and sustainability
May 31, 2022

The RAJYLE's perspective on the multidisciplinary theme climate changeis part of the international action.

While the Paris Agreement and the UN Agenda 2030 are essential, the European Union is incorporating the SDGs (Sustainability objectives) to legislative action.

Relevant milestones in Europe are the Green Pact (Green Deal); the action plan on circular economy and specific actions, especially the Climate law.

Particular attention should be paid to the connection of Sustainable Europe and Digital Europe, and its instruments under negotiation: Regulation on Digital Intelligence; Digital Services and Markets. Also the plan on sustainable finance, linked to climate action.

Consumer policy and action on strategic demands (SLAPPS) are now essential elements in the legal shaping of climate change action.

The special geopolitical circumstances prompted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and previously by the Covid-19 pandemic, have forced us to reflect on our high degree of regulatory detail (including Rule of Law Country Reports) and the need to be acutely aware of European vulnerability and the essentiality of defence policy.
